The owners and founders of several well-known contractors, including Ray O’Rourke and James Wates, have found a place in the Sunday Times Rich List 2019.
The annual wealth guide ranks the 1,000 richest people in the UK, along with details about the industry sector in which they made their fortune.
The highest entry among those representing the construction industry was Lord Bamford, owner of construction equipment firm JCB, in 33rd position with an estimated fortune of £4.15bn.
He was followed by John Bloor, owner of Bloor Homes and Triumph motorcycles in 78th place, who was one of many housebuilders and developers to feature.
However, there were also several contractors, including Laing O’Rourke chairman and chief executive Ray O’Rourke and family who was 338th= in the list with an estimated fortune of £337m.
Sitting just below O’Rourke was Wates Group chairman James Wates in 431st= with an estimated fortune of £300m.
