The NHBC is targeting CIOB members to fill up to 100 front line technical jobs up as part of a major recruitment drive to support house building.
The housing warranty and insurance provider plans to recruit 80 building inspectors, as well as managers, surveyors, engineers and special project managers to provide technical support for builders, both on site and during design, as they strive to meet the growing demand for new homes.

Candidates are also sought to work on a Mobile Quality Team being established to work with builders who request extra inspection assistance and to target “hot spot” areas throughout the UK, either with very high demand or more complex projects. Many of the new positions are listed on the dedicated CIOB recruitment website ciobjobs.com as well as the NHBC’s own site nhbccareers.co.uk/Vacancies.
NHBC new home registrations in the UK were up 28% in 2013 compared to the previous year, and registrations so far this year have shown sustained growth with broad-based recovery in many different regions.
Commenting on the recruitment campaign Ian Davis, operations director, said: "People with or working towards CIOB qualifications will be well suited for the roles that NHBC is looking to fill. Many of our existing staff have become professionally qualified through CIOB and we provide training and development as well as financial support for those who want to gain corporate membership of the institute”
Davis also added: “The UK house building industry has enjoyed a welcome revival over the past 18 months following a number of difficult years. As production ramps up across the country the industry is faced with a new set of challenges. Builders up and down the country have told NHBC what they need to move forward and we have responded by launching one of the biggest recruitment drives in our history. By up-scaling our technical and inspection services we will be able to provide extra support to the industry and builder customers at this crucial time.”
The recruitment campaign follows the recruitment of more than 50 additional inspectors, engineers and surveyors and the re-opening of NHBC’s Training Academy last year.
