Contractor Morgan Sindall has completed work on a major project to construct the £17.9m Splashpoint Leisure Centre on Worthing’s seafront in West Sussex. The project involved replacing the town’s existing 1960s facility with a new building designed by Wilkinson Eyre. It features a six-lane 25m competition pool, a learner and diving pool, an indoor leisure pool with flume and play facilities, an outdoor paddling pool, a health and fitness centre, cafe and studio space.
Around 100 companies from the local area were employed on the project by Morgan Sindall during the construction process. The complex also features a ground source heat pump, which will use renewable energy to heat and cool the building. In addition, the pools have regenerative filters which will create savings of 6,000 cum of water a year, while recycled water will be used to flush the toilets.
