Tottenham Hotspur’s delayed £800m stadium will not be ready to open this month.
The news came as the club confirmed that its Premier League game against Arsenal on 2 March would be held at Wembley stadium.
Last month, construction manager Mace informed the club that work to finalise the project would continue through February, although no likely opening date was given.
In its latest update, Spurs said remedial works on the safety systems in the new stadium are “near completion” that it then hoped to move forward to the final stages of testing the fire detection and alarm system and its integration with the other safety systems.
The club needs to obtain a safety certificate from Haringey Council in order to be able to open the stadium and has previously said that it is working with the council and building control to determine a schedule of commissioning, building test dates and building control sign-offs, as well as formal test event dates.

Spurs should leave the opening until the start of next year, there are no real big games between now and EOS. So get the EPL to schedule the first game next season as Arsenal, stadium will be full anyway but what a spectacle, especially as Spurs win by a motza
