A team of Mace Consult and Arcadis has been appointed to provide programme, project, cost and commercial management services for the multi-billion-pound expansion of London’s Luton Airport.
Provisionally estimated to cost £2.5bn in 2023 prices, the plan is to expand the existing terminal first before building a second, possibly by 2041. The plans got the go-ahead last month.
Client Luton Rising, the Luton Council company that owns the airport for community benefit, wants to increase its annual capacity from 19 million passengers now to 32 million by the mid-2040s.
It said the expansion would create up to 11,000 jobs and £1.5bn a year in extra economic activity.
Mace Consult and Arcadis will set up the programme, systems, controls and decision-making frameworks.
