MEWPs manufacturer JLG Industries has acquired the core technology developed by robotics start-up Canvas.

Through the investment, JLG will expand its offering of autonomous, connected access equipment.

The collaborative partnership started six years ago when Canvas used a JLG platform to develop its robotics technology.

Through the acquisition, Canvas technology will be paired with JLG access equipment to support a range of interior construction applications.

The Canvas team will also work with JLG, which is part of Oshkosh Corporation, to develop new robotic and autonomous solutions.

Shashank Bhatia, chief technology officer at JLG, said: “Robotics and automation will play an increasingly important role in the future of construction, especially as the industry looks for practical ways to deliver greater efficiencies, improve productivity and enhance consistency on job sites.

“This acquisition strengthens our technology roadmap and accelerates our ability to deliver solutions that create real, measurable value for customers in the field.”
