Dutch modular builder Jan Snel could expand its operations in the UK after its parent firm Flexbuild was acquired by Japanese modular firm Daiwa House Group.
Jan Snel already operates in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and the UK, and is now looking to rollout industrialised building across Europe. Daiwa House Group is part of Daiwa House Industry Co, which has an annual turnover of around £29bn and has operations in Asia, North America and Australia.
Jan Snel said that the tie-up with Daiwa House would allow it to expand its modular business in Europe, amid a growing housing shortage and a lack of professionals in the European market.
Harry van Zandwijk, CEO of Jan Snel, said: “The signing of this agreement is a reflection of our growth ambition. Daiwa House will add further expertise in industrial building to Jan Snel’s existing knowledge. With this, we want to become the clear market leader in Europe. In comparison to traditional construction methods, our modular construction method is smarter, faster and more sustainable. By combining our solutions and expertise with the strength of Daiwa House, we are laying a strong foundation for the future.”
