ITV’s current home on London’s South Bank
ITV has revealed plans to demolish its current home on London’s South Bank to make way for a new studio and residential tower.
The TV company has submitted a scoping report outlining its plans to Lambeth council that would see the site of London Television Centre redeveloped into a 38-storey residential tower with 270 flats.
The study outlines plans that also include a six-storey podium, which would span the development, and two further towers ranging from nine to 14 storeys.
A feasibility study will determine whether the ITV tower will be refurbished or completely redeveloped. In its application, ITV said there is a “great need” for works on its “outdated facilities”.
The document adds: “The podium structure aspect of the proposals would see the main podium structure spanning across six storeys flanked by two tower elements along the Queen’s Walk frontage, the eastern and western blocks being nine storeys and 14 storeys in height respectively.”
ITV will temporarily relocate its headquarters elsewhere in London whilst the South Bank site is redeveloped.
The report has been compiled by Cundall and will be sent to consultees including English Heritage, the Greater London Authority, the Environment Agency and Highways England, as well as local authorities to map out baselines and methodologies for the scheme.
