The Construction IT Alliance (CitA), in association with Irish Building magazine and BIMIreland.ie, has launched the inaugural Irish BIM Innovation Awards.
The awards aim to showcase the best of Irish BIM Innovation projects, and capture the capability of the Irish construction industry to respond to the increased requirement in the future for BIM on Irish construction and engineering projects.
Entrants can submit projects from across Ireland in three categories: design; construction; and operations and asset management. The shortlisted entrants will be invited to present their schemes with the winners adjudicated by a world class judging panel that includes David Philp, chair of the Scottish Futures Trust’s (SFT) BIM Delivery Group.

Each team may submit proposals covering several categories, and organisations may also participate in several categories.
Dr Alan V Hore, co-founding director of CitA and chair of the Irish BIM Innovation Awards, said: “BIM is becoming a powerful driving force in seeking out efficiencies and increased productivity in the Irish construction industry.
“CitA takes pride in that it was first to market in respect to identifying the relevance of BIM to the Irish construction sector. This has been acknowledged in its success in securing funding for the two-year funded BIM Innovation Capability Programme (BICP) and its recent appointment as the secretariat for Ireland’s newly formed National BIM Council (NBC).
“BIM is becoming more and more important to manage complex communications and information sharing processes in building projects in Ireland. A growing number of Irish design, engineering and construction firms are making significant progress in embracing and adopting BIM on projects both at home and overseas.
“The awards seek to capture the capability of the Irish construction industry to respond to the increased requirement in the future for BIM on Irish construction and engineering projects.”
Entries have to be submitted by 30 September, with the winners announced at a conference and awards dinner in Dublin on 10 November.
