  1. Hi David.
I am an ex game developer.
Whilst i have never been disappointed by the reality of video game development, I was lured away by the potential of weaving the virtual and actual world, in conjunction with the BIM Level 2 mandate and the vision for Digital Built Britain.

I noticed the severe skills shortage, and having now successfully completed an MSc in BIM, I am now enjoying my position as BIM consultant with Parliament.

I concur with your sentiment. The “opportunity to work on real-life projects” and take a virtual model to something real and tangible, “that make a genuine difference to society” was a compelling attraction.

As you say this is an element the “games industry is unable to offer”

As with your graduate whom amazed you by quickly getting to grips with the necessary tools. For me the digital realm is my playground where I revel in the new technologies and embrace their potential.

From my experience, anyone looking to enhance their potential recruitment talent pool to engage with digital construction will find a very capable, competent and talented resource within the games industry.

  2. Matthew,

Thrilled to read your comment and glad you’re getting the same enjoyment I do with how we get to influence the built environment.

I hope you continue to be inspired. Great news.
