New opportunities created through the project’s £24m skills investment
Hinkley Point C has announced 30,000 new training places between now and the power station’s expected completion in 2028.
Trainees will have the opportunity to upgrade their skills and develop their careers by joining the work to fit miles of pipes, cables, equipment and control systems.
The 30,000 training courses are expected to be filled by people from apprenticeships and other routes, or local businesses that want to enrol their own recruits. Hinkley Point’s existing workforce will also be upskilled.

Hinkley Point C hopes individuals will take up multiple courses as part of their career journey at the nuclear power station.
The programme is funded by Hinkley Point C’s £24m investment into education, skills and employment. The money will also fund three new ‘centres for excellence’ in welding, electrical and mechanical skills.
The project is also providing industry placements for those studying T-Levels – an alternative qualification to A-Levels – apprenticeships and other courses taken by 16- to 19-year-olds. Under this scheme, students are offered a mentor and work experience within the project. There is also a supported traineeship programme for people with learning difficulties.
Hinkley Point C’s managing director, Stuart Crooks, said: “Nuclear power is not just essential for the country, it also delivers significant benefits for the communities and region that host it.
“We have worked hard with local colleges and businesses to make sure that Hinkley Point C increases prosperity and productivity in Somerset and the South West – giving as many people as possible the chance to increase their skills and earning potential.”
