Contractor Graham has welcomed local transport minister, Lilian Greenwood, to its Dyecoats site in Leeds, as part of a campaign to improve safety and wellbeing in construction.

The visit highlighted Graham’s support for the ongoing partnership between the government’s THINK! campaign, Drinkaware and the Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS), which raises awareness among those in construction of the risks of drink driving.

The partnership supports the ‘Drink a little, risk a lot’ campaign, which highlights the risks of even a small amount of alcohol before driving.

During the visit, Greenwood viewed bespoke campaign materials displayed in the site canteen and public areas, while also engaging in informal discussions with site workers about the positive impact of the initiative.

The conversation also explored the importance of reinforcing these messages within the construction industry and Drinkaware’s wider work on alcohol-related harm reduction.

Commenting on the campaign, Greenwood said: “Driving under the influence of alcohol puts everyone at risk and every drink-drive collision represents a preventable tragedy.

“This partnership between THINK!, Drinkaware and the Considerate Constructors Scheme is helping get the message out that it’s not worth risking your licence, your job or your own or someone else’s life for a pint.”

Stephen Van den Hoek, Graham’s regional director, added: “Supporting the ‘Drink a little, risk a lot’ campaign is an important part of our commitment to safety and wellbeing. We’re proud that our proactive approach is being recognised at a national level.

“Minister Greenwood’s visit highlights the positive impact of our efforts and the importance of collaboration in driving this message forward.”
