The Building Safety Regulator (BSR) has given the green light for a £46m apartment development in Sheffield.
Clegg Construction, on behalf of developer Brickland, has secured Gateway 2 approval for the project, with work on site expected to begin this month.
The contractor has been appointed to build the 267-apartment scheme in Sheffield’s Nursery Street.
The project will be delivered in partnership with Hadfield Cawkwell Davidson, Ridge, Futurserv, Egan Lucocq, and Design Fire Services.
Michael Sims, managing director at Clegg Construction, said: “Securing Gateway 2 approval from the [BSR] confirms that this development in Sheffield meets the most stringent of safety requirements.
“This approval means that we can now proceed to the next stage, with enabling work starting on site to deliver this 12-storey concrete-frame apartment project.”
Gateway 2, introduced under the Building Safety Act 2022, aims to improve building safety, particularly for high-rise buildings.
Despite concerns over a backlog of applications, in December the BSR said it was “cautiously optimistic” that projected milestones for determinations remained achievable.
