Galliford Try project director Barry Kingscote has scooped the prestigious CIOB Construction Manager of the Year at the CIOB Awards 2024.

He received the award from host June Sarpong OBE and CIOB president Sandi Rhys-Jones at a packed Hilton London Metropole last night following a glittering black tie ceremony.

Kingscote fended off competition from more than 85 finalists across 13 different categories to claim the top gong for his work to develop a unique office space directly adjacent to one of London’s most prestigious landmarks – Marble Arch.

He described the project as the most complex in his four decades-long career in construction. The completed building in 1-4 Marble Arch provides 57,000 square feet of contemporary office space across seven floors.

Speaking after picking up his award, Kingscote, who also claimed the top prize in the Construction Manager commercial category, said he was delighted to be recognised while paying tribute to the team which supported him.

He added: "I can’t put the feeling into words.

"To go against all these fantastic managers in so many fields and to come out on top is just so surprising. It’s an honour and I would like to congratulate everyone who has been recognised."
