A free online webinar from the International Powered Access Federation (IPAF) on Thursday (21 July) will set out the benefits to contractors of selecting a MEWP hire company accredited to the IPAF Rental+ quality assurance standard.

IPAF will post the pre-recorded webinar, which is sponsored by MCS, Hinowa, Sinoboom, Palazzani and inspHire, to its YouTube channel on 21 July at 12pm.

It will present viewers with an overview of the IPAF Rental+ standard, the powered access industry’s guarantee of a quality hire company.

The webinar is aimed at powered access end-users, including contractors, and it can be viewed and shared widely, making it ideal for use as part of a client marketing strategy by IPAF rental members that are accredited to the scheme.

Highest standards

Being a condition of IPAF rental membership in the UK, the annual IPAF Rental+ audit ensures members have met and maintain the highest standards of training, equipment inventory and customer satisfaction.

The webinar will examine the components of the IPAF Rental+ scheme, how it aligns with the construction Common Assessment Standard and Safety Systems in Procurement (SSIP), just two of the many measurable benefits of the scheme to rental companies and their clients.

The speakers will highlight the advantages contractors and end-users enjoy when using a rental company that holds the IPAF Rental+ standard and how the scheme can help to instil compliance and good practice within a rental company, leading to improved safety on construction and other work sites.

Speakers for the webinar will be:

  • Martin Wraith – IPAF Rental+ scheme manager: Martin started his career as a delivery driver and has since worked as an independent instructor for more 10 years, progressing to become an IPAF examiner and auditor. Martin sat on the IPAF Rental+ Committee, and in 2021 was appointed as IPAF’s Rental+ scheme manager responsible for the future development of the scheme.
  • Tony Seddon – Managing director, Fall Arrest Safety Equipment Training (FASET): Directly involved in height safety since 2006 and a contributor to a number of national and international standard-setting bodies, as well as being managing director of FASET, Tony is also company secretary of the Work at Height Safety Association (WAHSA), the Specialist Access Engineering & Maintenance Association (SAEMA), the UK Metal Decking Association (UKMDA) and also a director of the Access Industry Forum (AIF).
  • Alana Paterson – Head of HSE, Nationwide Platforms: With almost 20 years’ experience in construction health & safety prior to joining the access industry in August 2020 with Nationwide Platforms, Alana has worked for some of the UK’s Tier 1 principal contractors on major projects throughout the UK. She is a member of IPAF’s International Safety Committee and the UK Strategic Forum Plant Safety Group, actively contributing to a number of its working groups.

The webinar will be pre-recorded and will be made available on YouTube through IPAF’s website on 21 July 2022, from 12:00 UK time (GMT+1).
