New data from the Mineral Products Association (MPA) shows that demand for core construction materials remains stuck at alarmingly weak levels, placing businesses under severe strain.

The slowdown in construction projects is also raising concerns around the subsequent impact on the current jobs market and future supply capacity.

While sales of some products stabilised at a low base in the fourth quarter of 2025, there was no change in the overall picture, according to the data.
