Claire Handby MCIOB (pictured), a director at Deloitte, will be giving a talk on “My career in the construction industry” at the CIOB annual dinner in the North West.
Handby, who was recently awarded an honorary doctorate at the University of Salford, will discuss encouraging children to take STEM subjects. She began her own career in construction at 15 and now leads Deloitte’s Regional Real Estate – Capital Projects Business Unit, based in Manchester.
She has been nominated for multiple awards and won many more, including Student of the Year during her construction management degree; the Rising Star Award with Mace Group; Management Consultancy Award winner in 2014; Northern Power Woman “Person with Purpose” award nomination; and International Women’s Day EY awards nomination for “Ground breaker and outstanding mentors”.
Handby has worked for Mace Group, Laing O’Rourke and McCarthy & Stone.
