The deadline for entries for The Duke of Gloucester’s Young Achievers Scheme, set up by the Construction Youth Trust to reward excellence for industry professionals, falls on October 12.
The CIOB-supported scheme promotes the construction industry to young people of all social backgrounds and helps bring diverse entrants to the sector.
Categories for the two-year-old awards, are architect, project or construction manager, engineer and surveyor. Finalists will be judged by a panel of experts through presentations and interviews.
The judges will look particularly for people who have not only achieved excellence in their careers so far but may have overcome challenges to get there.
They will also seek individuals who have gone the extra mile to promote construction as a career or helped others in the wider community. Candidates must be 30 or under on 31 January 2013.
Last year’s winner, Brendan Cusick of Sir Robert McAlpine (left), combined a part-time degree at Edinburgh’s Napier University with four days a week working on site and playing football as a semi-professional.
