Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) has appointed Carolyn Uphill as the new chair of its board.
She has 30 years’ experience owning and managing an equipment manufacturing and plant hire company and her most recent role was a chair of the National Landlords Association.
Uphill will succeed current CSCS chairman Michael Clapham, who retires after six years in the position.
She said: “I am looking forward to leading the CSCS board during this exciting time for the construction industry. CSCS is playing a pivotal role in leading the industry towards a fully trained and qualified workforce and the board is going to be instrumental in achieving this.
“I look forward to progressing Michael’s work. I have spent my career in areas related to construction and I am passionate about the benefits improved standards and training will bring to the industry.”
CSCS is a not-for-profit organisation owned by three employer and two union organisations representing the breadth of the construction industry. Its seven non-executive directors are nominated from the owner organisations and also represented on the board are two independent non-executive directors nominated by the Construction Industry Council and the Construction Clients Group.
