Crossrail has announced that the £250M contract for its new Paddington station, has been awarded to Costain/ Skanska, the first contract of its £1.5BN cross-capital station building programme, adding that the construction contracts for Farringdon and Whitechapel stations will be awarded later in the year, Building reported this week.
Also, the new chief executive of Crossrail, Andrew Wostenholme, has brought forward his starting date for joining the organisation to August- a month earlier than it was understood he was going to take up the position. Current executive Rob Holden stepped down formally this week.
In a further announcement, former Arup chairman Terry Hill will join Crossrail’s board in September in a move that will strengthen the organisation’s core expertise, Construction News said.
Crossrail chairman Terry Morgan said ‘Terry has significant construction industry experience, having led one of the UK’s leading engineering companies, and will bring invaluable expertise in major transport infrastructure delivery.’
Building reported that the remaining contracts for Bond Street, Tottenham Court Road and Liverpool Street stations will be awarded by Spring 2012.
