A team from the CIOB, including the president, Chris Chivers, and chief executive Chris Blythe, have embarked on a two-week relationship building trip to China – and found high awareness of the BIM+ website in China.
The CIOB delegation (pictured above looking at the layout of “China’s Silicon Valley”, the Z Park in Beijing), which also includes Amy Gough, director of operations, and head of international Aimee Fisker, has been meeting with various companies, academics, training partners and CIOB members to investigate how the CIOB can provide further support in the region.

During the visit the group will meet some of the countries key figures in construction, including representatives of the China’s membership organisations, including the Shanghai Construction Consultants Association (SCCA).
The SCCA is the only construction association for project supervision, cost and bidding in China that covers professional individuals, enterprises, public institutions, economic organisations and universities engaged in construction management.
Its representatives said that BIM+ had a committed following in China.
The delegation also met Guan Qing, president of China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC), the world’s third largest contractor, and Fang Quichen, chairman of China International Contractors Association (CICA).
Meetings have also been arranged with several bodies that represent British interests in China, including the UKTI’s Dexter Vickery, head of environment and infrastructure for east China at the British Consulate in Shanghai, and Chen Bing, assistant area director at the British Council.
The delegation will also attend the CIOB’s regional council AGM.
