The CIOB is challenging anyone with an interest in construction to build some of the world’s most famous buildings in Minecraft, to celebrate this year’s International Construction Management Day (9 March 2015).
The competition to create the most realistic building in the virtual 3D world-building game is open to those in the industry, as well as children and gaming enthusiasts, with the creator of the best model winning an iPad Mini 16GB.
Entrants have the choice of constructing one of five buildings that where all built by CIOB members, with a range of difficulty levels.
In order of complexity, they are: the Shard; Beijing’s CCTV headquarters; the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur; Sydney Opera House; and the Houses of Parliament.
Launching the event, Saleem Akram, director at the CIOB said: “There are more than 30 million people playing Minecraft worldwide. Many of them are showcasing amazing digital construction skills by building highly detailed representations of some of the world’s iconic structures.
