The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) Academy has launched a Level 6 Diploma in Building Safety Management.
The move comes amid an increased need for building safety managers following Dame Judith Hackitt’s Independent Review of Building Safety and Fire Regulations.
The CIOB Academy said the qualification would help management professionals to promote the openness, trust and collaboration with residents necessary to keep buildings safe.
The course will prepare the learner with the knowledge and skills to manage building safety in line with legislation and regulations, as well as learning the techniques for managing the safety of an occupied building.
The course also covers looking after the day-to-day management of fire and structural safety in higher risk buildings and how to establish a clear point of contact for residents for fire and safety-related issues.
Adrian Montague, associate director at the CIOB Academy, said: “Recent events and legislative changes have made the role of Building Safety Manager a key duty holder role. The CIOB Academy is excited to offer this new qualification that will give professionals the skills to take on this role and ensure the safe management of buildings.”
The first date for the course is 15 September 2021. It can be accessed here.
