CIOB is rolling out digital membership cards for its members in a move to cut waste and innovate sustainable services.
The digital membership card is available to Chartered Members (MCIOB), Chartered Fellows (FCIOB) and Technical Members (TechCIOB). Those eligible should have received an email notification from CIOB.
Over 7,000 institute members receive a new membership card each year. This would be a printed card sent via post. By introducing a digital membership card, CIOB aims to make this service more convenient while also becoming more sustainable.
CIOB’s associate director of retention, Ruth Kennedy-Green, said: “Our new initiative will offer members digital membership cards instead of printed cards, cutting down on waste and improving our members’ experience.
“Since people are already carrying their smartphones everywhere, it makes good sense for our members to have their membership cards stored on them.”

Having been a member of the CIOB for the best part of the past 40 years, I’d be greatly obliged to receive a Digital Membership Card.
With thanks and regards,
Kevin S J Batt, OB, BSc(hons), MCIOB.
