An eerie view from Alcatraz, the use of child labour in India and a symbol of the Soviet Union’s past industrial rush are some of the photographic stories to reach the final of this year’s international Art of Building digital photography competition run by the CIOB.
15 shortlisted images have been selected from a field of around 1,700 international entries, after impressing the judging panel of photography critic and editor Sue Steward, award-winning photographer Matt Wain and Construction Manager’s editor Elaine Knutt.
Now, the CIOB is inviting members and the wider public to decide which of the 15 finalists should be awarded the title of Art of Building Photographer of the Year and the winner’s cash prize of £3,000. Voting is free and takes place via www.artofbuilding.org.
CIOB Art of Building manager, Saul Townsend, said: “There are absolutely no signs of the competition slowing up in either interest or quality. There is a real passion for the built environment and it has shone through in the photography entered this year. Now it’s up everyone to have their say on who should win.”
The contest, which celebrates creativity in the construction industry, is now in its fourth year. Voting opens on 9 December and closes on 9 January 2014.
