Eddie Hughes MP.
Eddie Hughes, chair of the all party parliamentary group (APPG) for built environment excellence, has taken a new role in the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG).
The Conservative MP for Walsall North, a CIOB member, has been appointed as parliamentary private secretary to the ministry.
The MHCLG secretary of state is James Brokenshire and Dominic Raab is minister of state for housing.
Hughes tweeted: “As a Brummie who started my professional life on building sites, I’m delighted to have been asked to become PPS to @MHCLG ministers. An honour to support colleagues to deliver the housing policies we desperately need.”
He succeeded his Conservative colleague Jo Churchill as chair of the APPG for excellence in the built environment in January.
Hughes, who also chairs Walsall Housing Group, has a degree in civil engineering and has previously worked as building site manager on social housing developments.
