Bovis has claimed a step change in build quality after a renewed focus on improving standards and recruiting “high quality construction directors, site managers and site teams”.
According to the firm’s latest results, the number of NHBC reportable items from Bovis jobs has fallen 66% since December 2016, to a point slightly lower than the industry average.
“We are proud to disclose that our recent NHBC Construction Quality Review highlighted a significant step up in our build quality and in ‘getting it right first time’, with the group now aligned to industry standards,” the company said.
Construction Manager has asked Bovis how many defects were recorded at their peak and following the subsequent drive for better quality.
The company’s half year results to June 2018 show profit before tax at £60.2m, up 41% on the same period last year. Bovis’ margin has improved to 20% on a 1% increase in revenue to £432.2m. Unit completions for the half-year are up 4% on 2017 to 1,580.
“We delivered a strong performance in the half with a more than 40% increase in profits,” said chief executive, Greg Fitzgerald. “This reflects the excellent progress made across all business areas over the past 18 months and a step change in the quality of the homes we are building and level of service we are providing our customers.”
