BIM+ is delighted to announce that it joined the winners line-up at the inaugural RICS BIM4SME Awards last week, held by RICS and BIM4SME working group to highlight the success and opportunities in BIM for SMEs.

BIM+ and publisher Atom Publishing won the best SME BIM website category, with the judges saying it “adds greatly to the debate with fantastic content and great features” and is “an authority for up-to-date BIM news”.
It joined seven other category winners, which included Baxall Construction as Best BIM newcomer, and Howard Russell Construction as winner of the Best BIM project by an SME – its Park Royal project was featured as a case study on BIM+ last week.
The awards, sponsored by project cost software specialist Exactal, were presented at London’s Westminster Boating Base, bringing together SMEs of all sectors and sizes to showcase excellence and promote best practice within the industry.
The other award winners were Bond Bryan Architects for winner of Best BIM Project – Medium Enterprise, awarded for its continued investment in both the people and technology to implement BIM effectively across the organisation.
Bond Bryan’s BIM manager Rob Jackson also took home the award for Best SME BIM Blog, recognised for its regular, quality blog posts and keeping the industry abreast of developments in BIM and its uses across the sector.
Darren Lester’s SpecifiedBy online specification service won the best SME innovation award, as a result of its commitment to BIM and also the innovative use of the technology.
Canterbury-based SME contractor Coombs, which recently refurbsihed Margate’s Dreamland attraction, won the Best SME Training Strategy award in recognition of its commitment to BIM training in order to produce a workforce that is BIM ready.
From the United Arab Emirates, Imarati Engineering & Consultants was awarded the best SME Engagement and Support Programme award, for providing complete implementation of BIM technology in its work on client projects.
Alan Muse, director of built environment at the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), said: “It was a pleasure to welcome such a varied and skilled group of professionals to our first RICS BIM4SME Awards last night. Each of the nominated SMEs had displayed a great knowledge and understanding of BIM, whilst being instrumental in pushing forward the BIM agenda among their peers.
“These awards were created to recognise and promote SME achievements and the great benefits of BIM in the industry today. BIM will drive the future skills agenda, something which RICS fully supports and hopes to continue to support through the BIM focused products and services it offers. For smaller companies, investment in technical skills such as BIM provide an opportunity to differentiate their business offering.
“This also continues our close association with the BIM4SME working group and our mutual undertaking to ensure that the SME sector is properly represented. Congratulations to all of the winners and a big thank you to everyone who participated in the awards.”
