The use of digital MEWP (mobile elevating work platform) objects is on the increase on construction projects, according to research by CM and the International Powered Access Federation (IPAF).
Last year, a selection of the objects were uploaded onto the NBS (National Building Specification) BIM Library by IPAF.
Since then, major construction projects have begun to use BIM to plan work with MEWPs. On the £70.5m new HSBC headquarters in Sheffield (pictured), where BAM was main contractor, architect Leonard Design has planned the building’s operational phase using the MEWP objects.
More information on BIM and other key MEWP issues can be found in Powered Access magazine, published by CM and IPAF, and available to view here.
