Bentley acquires Citilabs and Orbit Geospatial Technologies

Bentley Systems kicked off its Year in Infrastructure 2019 Conference in Singapore this week by announcing the acquisition of two companies aimed at boosting its urban digital planning capabilities.

One is Citilabs, a Sacramento, California-headquartered provider of mobility simulation and analytics software. The other is Belgian 3D and mobile mapping software provider, Orbit Geospatial Technologies.

Bentley said the newly acquired technologies will help it offer “engineering-based mobility digital twins”.

Robert Mankowski, Bentley’s vice president for digital cities, said: “Mobility is a priority opportunity for city digital twins because too often existing planning and simulation efforts are disconnected from the infrastructure’s engineering reality.”
