BauderECO FF is a PIR insulation manufactured from 80% biomass-based raw materials.
As we move towards a more sustainable future, Bauder is on a journey to lowering the embodied carbon of its PIR insulation for flat roof construction.
It has introduced BauderECO FF, a polyisocyanurate insulation manufactured from 80% biomass-based raw materials. It is certified by REDcert2 (REDcert²-904-39352401) and has a product-specific Environmental Performance Declaration (EPD-BAU-20220210-CBC2-EN).
BauderECO FF has been developed to offer an alternative to conventional PIR insulation manufactured from fossil fuel derivatives. It has approximately 75% lower embodied carbon compared with Bauder’s standard PIR offering, providing a suitable alternative for specifiers seeking to achieve sustainability goals whilst maintaining the quality and performance of Bauder’s renowned PIR insulation.
These claims are verified in Bauder’s EPD certification and in accordance with the REDcert² certification.
The production of BauderECO FF insulation utilises the biomass balance approach, which is a chain of custody model designed to track the total amount of renewable biomass-based raw material content through the manufacturing process or supply chain. The production method permits the blending of sustainably sourced materials with non-renewable resources.
This approach enables Bauder to integrate alternative bio-based raw materials into existing, complex production pathways efficiently, with minimal requirements for additional or modified plant and equipment.
The insulation is specified within warm roof construction for a heat/conditioned building on both new-build construction and the refurbishment of existing flat roofs.
BauderECO FF insulation can currently be used within some of Bauder’s warm roof waterproofing solutions (Bauder Total Roof System (BTRS) and Thermofol), which have been system tested and are available for specification.
