Balfour Beatty has won an £83m contract from Hub North Scotland to build its new Forres Academy school in Moray on behalf of Moray Council.

The project includes the 12,143-square-meter secondary school campus, a 3G artificial-grass sports pitch, car park and replaces the existing educational facility.

The new facility, which will accommodate 1,120 students, supports the Scottish government’s Learning Estate Investment Programme Phase 3 criteria, which aims to assess projects against a broader set of educational, environmental and asset-performance outcomes.

The contract adds to a suite of projects in Scotland delivered by Balfour Beatty for the Council, including Elgin High School, Lossiemouth High School and Linkwood Primary School.

“Building on our experience in delivering high-quality educational facilities across Scotland, we look forward to creating a modern, sustainable learning environment that will benefit students and the wider community for years to come,” said Nick Rowan, Balfour Beatty’s managing director of Scottish business.

Work on the project is due to commence imminently, with completion scheduled in 2029.
