Construction consultancy Arcadis has named Peter Oosterveer as its new chief executive.
Oosterveer will replace interim chief executive Renier Vree, who has headed up the global consultant since Neil McArthur stepped down in October last year following a “difference of opinion” with the company’s board.
He will join as new the new head subject to approval by shareholders at the firm’s AGM, which is due to be held on 26 April.

In a trading update this morning, the firm said its market outlook for 2017 was unchanged and expected positive business sentiment among private sector clients to continue.
Vree, who will return to his role as chief financial officer following Oosterveer’s appointment, said: “The priorities we set in October last year are now resulting in meaningful signs of improvement in large parts of our business.
“We see a healthy pipeline of market opportunities across our businesses. Our operating model has been simplified and we realised the associated structural cost savings. We see a positive business sentiment in most geographies, but we remain cautious about market developments in Brazil, the Middle East, and parts of Asia.”
Elsewhere, it has been announced that former Kier and Laing O’Rourke boss Paul Sheffield is set to join Royal BAM Group.
Sheffield, who announced his departure from Laing O’Rourke in February, is set to join the supervisory board of the Dutch construction company.
Sheffield will join BAM at the end of August after existing chairman Peter Elverding retired for health reasons and was replaced by Harrie Noy, creating a vacancy.
He will serve on the board until 2021.
