David Barwell has stepped down as chief executive of Aecom in the UK and Ireland with immediate effect.
He has been replaced by Colin Wood, who joined the firm three years ago in its civil infrastructure business.
Chief operating officer Bill Quarterman has also had is appointment as a director terminated, according to documents filed at Companies House, although there has no announcement on a successor to his position.
A spokesperson for Aecom said: “We can confirm that David Barwell has stepped down as chief executive of the UK and Ireland (UKI) business, Colin Wood will take on the role of chief executive of the UKI effective immediately.”
“Colin Wood joined Aecom in 2017, and immediately made a positive impact on the performance of Aecom’s UKI Civil Infrastructure business. Since then he has led Aecom’s civil infrastructure business across Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), and most recently been the chief capability officer for EMEA. Prior to Aecom, Colin held significant senior leadership roles in the public and private sector working for clients such as Transport for London and Heathrow. He was also COO and CEO of the UK Ministry of Defence’s Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO)."
The spokesperson added that Barwell will be “transitioning” from Aecom between now and the end of the year.
