Trimble has created a model context protocol (MCP) service to connect its SketchUp design environment with other tools.

The SketchUp Connector allows Trimble’s 3D modelling software, already used widely across used across architecture and construction, to interact with Anthropic’s large language model (LLM) Claude.

Users will be able to create 3D geometry designs such as massing models, landscapes or furniture by describing their design to Claude using plain language. Alongside this, users can also upload context material such as sketches, photos and reference images.
