The draft of the revised version of Part 3 of the 19650 standard is now out for consultation. The industry has until 6 July to respond.

This revision follows the draft changes to 19650 Parts 1 and 2. The consultation on those closed earlier this month. The existing 19650 Part 3 covers the information management process for the operational phase of assets, but the revised Part 2 now covers this as part of a whole-life approach.

Thus, as expected, the revised Part 3 sets out some guidelines for implementing the requirements of 19650-2 “under a range of different circumstances”, according to the draft’s introduction.

Furthermore, 19650-3 also sets out specific guidelines for implementing 19650-2 requirements when:

  • implementing a common data environment;
  • aggregating information models into the asset information model;
  • federating information and implementing an information container breakdown structure;
  • implementing the information production standard and information production methods and procedures; and
  • detailing the level of information need.
