The images show “the beauty of maintaining the UK’s roads” in different locations across the country.

Earlier this year, the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) forecast that around 251,000 new construction workers will be needed by 2028 if the sector wants to meet demand.

Repair and maintenance is one of the three major sectors requiring recruitment.

Lancashire County Council contracted WJ Group to deliver road safety schemes across four of the most dangerous roads in England which were in their area

Steph Wheat, head of people at WJ Group, said: “Working in the construction industry is incredibly rewarding – whether that’s in infrastructure, housing or on a highways project.

“We know this because we see our team working hard all year round to ensure that we’re successful in providing what our communities need. When we asked our team to send us their pictures from working on the road network, we were inundated with their favourite views from across the UK and Ireland.”

To meet construction’s growth, CITB estimated that an equivalent of more than 251,500 extra construction workers will be needed over the next five years

WJ will be hosting the images on its website and is calling on other organisations in the industry to share pictures from their own teams.
