Mace has installed a huge steel beam weighing 62 tonnes in the Boiler House of Battersea Power Station, as work progresses on its revamp of the Grade II-listed building.
The 27m-long, 2.6m-deep beam transfers a load of 2,070 tonnes down the power station, taking seven floors above it and creating a column-free structure in the events centre below.
Mace transported the beam by road through London and installed it in a single lift.
One of the biggest cranes in Europe had to be used for the installation.
