The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) has produced a poem exploring what professionalism means with spoken word artist Lionheartfelt.
The release of the poem on YouTube is timed to coincide with National Poetry Day, which takes place today (3 October).
Entitled the ‘Poetry of Professionalism’, the video piece has been curated to reach younger audiences and challenge the views and preconceptions of the industry.
Saul Townsend, head of communications at the CIOB said: “Talking about professionalism is really important, especially when issues of poor quality and bad practice are evident in the industry.
“What it means to be a professional can be difficult to describe, the CIOB defines it through membership but we want to reach broader audiences and different minds with our message that being a professional is about going beyond what is expected and lifting the benchmark higher. Showing pride in your work and not comprising your own values are the behaviours we look to celebrate in this piece of work, and we encourage the industry to share its message.”
The CIOB has also published a blog in poetic style to promote the new video, which can be found here.
