Three construction firms have made the Times’ list of the Top 50 Employers for Women.
Arup, Costain Group and Lendlease all made the cut for the list, which was published today.
The unranked list recognises UK employers who are making gender equality a key part of their business strategy.
Companies have to show a consistent commitment to creating inclusive working cultures and progressing women in the workplace at all levels.
Commenting on Lendlease’s inclusion in the list, the firm’s chief executive, international operations Dan Labbad, said: “Being named one of the UK’s top employers for women is great news and welcome recognition for Lendlease’s continued efforts to attract more women into construction.
"We are pleased to be recognised for our efforts so far on this critical issue, but we are not complacent and will continue working hard to build a more inclusive workforce.”
Lendlease was also the first property group in the UK to achieve the National Equality Standard, and the company is also being recognised as an Employer of Choice for Gender Equality by the Australian Workplace Gender Equality Agency.
Sally Austin, Costain group HR director said: “We are proud that our work to make Costain a great place for women to work has been recognised. We strongly believe that having diverse and equal teams, paired with a forward-thinking culture at all levels of our business, is fundamental to delivering our strategy.”
The list comes on the back of new figures published by the government that show the huge disparity in men and women’s pay in the construction industry.
Some firms revealed they are paying women up to 62% less per hour than men, highlighting the need to recruit more women at all levels of businesses.
