Sir Robert McAlpine is to offer parents – both men and women – 26 weeks’ paid leave as part of a new set of policies called Family First.
The leave is on offer to parents who have children through birth, adoption or surrogacy.
The enhanced family leave is also now available after 12 months of employment, rather than the two years previously required.
The company has also introduced carer leave for those with carer responsibility.
Karen Brookes, executive director of People and Infrastructure, Sir Robert McAlpine, said: “We aim to lead by example on inclusion, and the launch of our new Family First policies takes us one step further towards our ambition to be a flexible, family-friendly business that is the Best Place to Work.”
The move comes after an announcement by Wates yesterday that it would also boost the benefits available to parents in carers, including quadrupling the amount of paid paternity leave it offers.
