Resoration work at Chester Cathedral
Hot on the heels of the first steering group meeting, the new CIOB Specialist Interest Groups are already planning activities with some already announced.
The Conservation SIG, chaired by Rory Cullen FCIOB, head of building at The National Trust, officially launches the CIOB Heritage Certification Scheme in November.
The ground-breaking scheme comprises three levels and will cover a number of disciplines. The group also has three further plans in the pipeline including a Somerset House Conservation Conference for 2018, the development of a website and a series of conservation features for Construction Manager.
The new Contract & Procurement SIG, led by Francis Ho FCIOB, construction and infrastructure partner at Penningtons Manches, is also hard at work on a variety of initiatives.
Plans include partnering with the CIOB Academy to provide CPD and events; to link to key campaigns of the Institute such as modern slavery, BIM and build quality; and to provide guidance and steering on the CIOB suite of standard form agreements.
The other SIGs will announce plans in due course and some are actively recruiting members.
