Sir Terry Morgan expects to be sacked from his role as HS2 chairman, it has been reported.
News emerged over the weekend that Prime Minister Theresa May was likely to remove Sir Terry, who is also chairman of Crossrail, from his role on HS2. The £55.7bn project has been criticised for being too expensive and environmentally damaging, while Crossrail is running behind schedule.
Sir Terry was only confirmed as HS2 chairman in August this year, while he has held his Crossrail role since 2009.
Sky News reported that he had confirmed to the broadcaster that he expects to be asked to leave.
Sir Terry has worked as an executive at both BAE Systems and Land Rover and was previously chief executive of PPP company Tube Lines, which is responsible for maintaining the London Underground’s Jubilee, Northern and Piccadilly lines.
The Department for Transport declined to comment about Sir Terry’s predicted sacking.
