The Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) has appointed Simons Group director Mark Noonan as its new industry relations director.
In the newly created role, Noonan will be tasked with ensuring the CITB is engaging effectively with employers and federations across England, Scotland and Wales, gaining a better understanding of their needs and helping to promote the industry.
Noonan is currently customer development and relationship director at property and contracting business Simons Group.
Before joining Simons, he spent many years working for supermarket chain, Safeway, including a key role in its conversion to Morrisons, before moving into the construction industry, undertaking many delivery roles including project leadership for the Wates Group.
Reacting to his appointment, Noonan said: “CITB has a huge role to play in delivering industry’s skills and helping employers navigate a changing political landscape.
“Key to my success will be getting out there, engaging across the industry, and ensuring our work at CITB is even more effective.”
Adrian Belton, chief executive of CITB, said: “At a time of major change, Mark will ensure that I and all my colleagues are working effectively with our industry, from the smallest firms to the biggest. Mark’s experience, skills and enthusiasm will undoubtedly help us to do that.”
