Sellar Property Group’s controversial £775m Paddington Cube development was last night given the green light by Westminster council.
The 14-storey cube-shaped office building replaces previous plans for a 72-storey high-end residential building, which was abandoned after fierce opposition.
Sellar Property Group is developing the Renzo Piano-designed scheme in partnership with Great Western Developments and it will be sited at the former Royal Mail sorting and post office site next to Paddington Station.
The 360,000 sq ft Paddington Cube will sit on a three-storey podium 12m above 1.35 acres of newly created public realm.
The Paddington Quarter development will accommodate more than 4,000 new jobs for Paddington and include 80,000 sq ft of retail and restaurant space over five levels, including a rooftop restaurant.
