Modular builder Sekisui House and developer Urban Splash have delivered the first of 406 new modular homes that will form the new community of Inholm on Homes England land at the new town of Northstowe.
The homes are being delivered as part of a joint venture with Homes England, signed in 2019.
Inholm is one of a number of sites that will form part of a Homes England 1,500-home research study into modern methods of construction (MMC) to drive innovation in the construction industry.
The study will test the performance of different types of MMC to provide long-term, verifiable data so that informed decisions about emerging construction technologies can be made.
The new homes at Inholm are being manufactured at the House by Urban Splash factory in Alfreton in the East Midlands. They use approximately 67% less energy to build compared to an equivalent traditional built project and contain energy-saving features including high-quality insulation, energy-efficient windows and LED lighting, a hot water cylinder with an integrated airforce heat pump and emission-free electric heating.
