Consulting engineering group Ramboll UK returned to profit in 2018 after a small loss the year before and heavier losses in prior years.
The company reported 22% revenue growth to £98.3m in a flat market in the year to 31 December 2018. Profit before tax in 2018 was £1.9m, up from a £100,000 pre-tax loss in 2017.
The firm said that despite uncertainty around Brexit, it had achieved growth across all its markets, including a series of significant wins including: Highways England Routes to Market, Digital Rail for Network Rail, multiple university frameworks and a greater focus on repeat business from key clients.
Its top 40 clients represented around 50% of its overall revenue, which has doubled over the last two years.
Ramboll, founded in Denmark in 1945, employs more than 15,000 people around the world and in addition to the UK, it also has strong representation in the Nordic countries, North America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia. It has a total of 300 offices in 35 countries.
