Willmott Dixon has revealed how it is using technology such as GoPro cameras and motion-activated voiceover systems to help its workers to social distance.
The measures have been put into place as the contractor gets 95% of its sites back to work.
It has opened up extra space for welfare facilities, taking measures such as hiring large marquees and installing one-way systems, especially around bottleneck areas.
It has also set up toolbox talks, held in open areas, to communicate the latest guidance and working practices.
Meanwhile GoPro technology is being used to film progress and is then uploaded to video conferencing app Microsoft Teams to show the latest developments and ask questions.
Motion-activated voiceover systems are currently being used on Willmott Dixon’s sites in the North, remind workers at key points on sites such as entrances to maintain a 2m distance from colleagues and to wash their hands. This will soon be rolled out nationally.
Hand sanitiser is available in meeting rooms, desks, and site entrances and exits, with dedicated hand wash zones.
And there are staggered breaks and lunchtimes, with signage to social distancing in canteens.
