The pavilion at the centre of the International Quarter London
The pavilion at the centre of the International Quarter London (IQL) development, being built by Lendlease almost entirely from cross- and glue laminated timber has topped out.
The milestone came after 14 weeks of superstructure works, with the first parts of the frame beginning to arrive in the summer. The project broke ground in February this year.
The IQL is a business development project jointly developed by Lendlease and London Continental Railways and funded by French bank BNP Paribas in London’s Stratford, which sits between Westfield and the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. The entire project, which involves the construction of 4,000,000 sq ft of work space, new homes, community facilities, retail and a hotel, is estimated to cost a total of £2.1bn.
When complete, the 10,000 sq. ft. pavilion will house restaurants across the ground and first floors and a rooftop terrace and bar will provide views across Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park towards the London skyline.
Andrew Tobin, project director of IQL at Lendlease said: “We’re very proud to be able to bring this innovative building to Stratford, and of the part it will play in bringing our local communities within IQL and the wider area together. We’re also looking forward to announcing more details in due course regarding the dining experience that will be available within this remarkable space.”
