A subcontractor working at the new £250m Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre (AECC) has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after a fall.
The worker was understood to have fallen from a stepladder while undertaking painting and decorating work in the new Hilton hotel, which is being built as part of the AECC, when the fall occurred.
He was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary where he is understood to have been placed into an induced coma.
A spokesperson for Robertson said: “We can confirm that one of our sub-contractors working on the AECC was taken to hospital on Tuesday afternoon.
“We are conducting an investigation into the circumstances and will report in full to the HSE.”
The AECC, set to be completed in June next year, is the largest project ever won by Robertson. Located on a 130-acre site next to Aberdeen International Airport, it includes covered exhibition halls and a four-star, 200-bed Hilton hotel.
